What Does Isaiah 9: 6-7 Really Mean For Us As Christians?<\/strong>*
This is a prophecy of the coming rule of Jesus on earth. These verses gather into one announcement the predictions of the birth, the deity, his earthly government, his just kingdom, and eternity of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n

For unto us a Child is born<\/strong>
The purpose of Christ\u2019s coming was for \u201cus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unto us a Son is given<\/strong>
Jesus did not happen upon earth. From eternity God planned to \u201cgive\u201d him. Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus existed eternally as the Son. The word \u201cSon\u201d is used to show the relationship between the Father and Son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the government will be upon His shoulder<\/strong>
Jesus will reign as King Jesus, King of the world. The government of the entire world is on his shoulders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And His name will be called Wonderful<\/strong>
When he came he was a wonder. He transcends human understanding. He is unique among human beings. He stands supreme above everyone else. His name is wonderful because he is wonderful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And His name will be called\u2026 Counselor<\/strong>
Jesus reveals the mind of God. He counsels us from God\u2019s perspective. He gives God\u2019s council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And His name will be called\u2026 Mighty God<\/strong>
He is God almighty. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Deity in bodily form (Colossians 2:9<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And His name will be called\u2026 Everlasting Father<\/strong>
This is better translated as \u201cThe Father of eternity.\u201d All the ages meet in him (Hebrews 1:2<\/a>). The Son is not to be confused with the Father, although the Father and He are one (John 10:30<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And His name will be called\u2026 Prince of Peace.<\/strong>
Peace will characterize his reign upon earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

PRINCIPLE:<\/strong> God predicted the coming of Christ. He is sovereign over the affairs of man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

APPLICATION:<\/strong> We can rest confident that God manages the world well. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Call to Prayer <\/strong>every Sunday morning for our local youth ministry and the leadership and direction of the National Inspirational Youth Convention (NIYC). View the Presiding Elder Clifton McDowell’s<\/a> appeal to pray for NIYC as they plan for the next convention in 2025. Get involved and participate as we live out Psalms 78:4 and Joel 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will not hide them from their descendants;
    we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
    his power, and the wonders he has done. <\/strong>

NIYC’s call to action<\/a><\/strong> asks that you 1.<\/strong> stay connected<\/a>, 2. <\/strong>pray and 3. <\/strong>share your suggestions and comments at niyc.org\/contact<\/strong><\/a> as they plan for the 2025 Convention. This is the time to share your innovative thoughts. Think Big! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
