What Does Luke 1:35 Mean to Christians?*<\/strong>
The concept of a virgin birth, especially that of Jesus, is a profound mystery in the Christian faith. Mary’s question regarding her impending conception\u2014being a virgin\u2014expresses her desire for understanding rather than doubt. The angel Gabriel’s response provides clarity: the Holy Spirit will ‘overshadow’ her, signifying a divine act that transcends ordinary human experiences. This moment illustrates God’s power to accomplish miraculous deeds that defy natural laws, echoing the biblical truth that nothing is impossible with Him. In this way, Gabriel reassures Mary by framing her role in the context of God’s greater purpose.

In Luke 1:35, the statement about Mary’s conception emphasizes the holiness of the child to be born. This reinforces the theological understanding that Jesus, while fully human, is also fully divine, thus uniting two natures in one person without the corruption of sin. This truth is essential, as it underlines the significance of the incarnation in several theological discussions about sin, redemption, and the nature of God. God\u2019s intervention manifests His grace, foreshadowing the promise of salvation made available through Christ.

The Women’s Ministry of the Langley Avenue Church of God gathered for a Holiday Luncheon<\/strong> on December 7, 2024 at S2 Grill in Chicago. The women fellowshipped together while sharing a meal. What a wonderful time they had in the Lord!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to all those who attended the annual Christmas skit and concert at the South Suburban Church of God<\/strong> on Sunday, December 8, 2024 in Homewood, Illinois. This year’s theme is “Once In Royal David’s City Celebrating ‘God’s Royal Gift’ – known by no other name than – Jesus! Come and enjoy this wonderful fellowship”!<\/em> Pastor Mario and Minister Michelle Jenkins represented Langley Avenue COG well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Call to Prayer <\/strong>every Sunday morning for our local youth ministry and the leadership and direction of the National Inspirational Youth Convention (NIYC). View the Presiding Elder Clifton McDowell’s<\/a> appeal to pray for NIYC as they plan for the next convention in 2025.
