Memorial Day<\/strong> will be observed on Monday, May 25th. On this day, we honor and remember our loved ones who passed away in 2025. We also remember our former pastors\u2014S. P. Dunn, E. J. Morris Jr., and Noah Reid Jr.\u2014and their devoted wives for their faithful service to our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also thank and honor the men, women, sons, and daughters who have served or are currently serving in the military. Your dedication and sacrifice are deeply appreciated.

Sis. Eva J. Yeo was honored as the 2026 Mother of the Year,<\/strong> presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a special trophy in recognition of her love, strength and dedication. It was a wonderful and unexpected celebration filled with joy and gratitude. Thanks be to God for such a beautiful and memorable Mother\u2019s day.

The Obama Presidential Center<\/strong>\u00a0is set to open June 19, 2026. This center located in the Jackson Park area will serve as an athletic center, museum, library\u00a0and all around community center focused on civic engagement and public access. June 19th is\u00a0Juneteenth (officially Juneteenth National Independence Day),<\/strong>\u00a0a U.S. federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, celebrated annually on June 19. It marks the date in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
