Reflection: Cry for Repentance\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> (Read Jonah 3)**
\nAt the beginning of the year 2020, many people related the date to 20\/20 eyesight or perfect vision. However, few of us expected the dramatic changes that would occur across our nation and the entire world. COVID-19 forced people to practice social distancing. Concerts, sports teams, schools, and many businesses all ceased their activities. Families and friends could no longer visit loved ones in the hospital or pay their respects when someone passed away. Even churches had to close their doors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Life was going on as usual in Nineveh until the day the prophet cried out an urgent warning. Perspective changed. Everything came to a sudden halt. Because the Ninevites took the warning seriously and humbled themselves. God forgave their sin and relented of judging the nation. Perhaps 2020 served as a warning cry as well so we could more clearly see our need for God and his mercy. –Connie B. Stilwell<\/p>\n
