Reflection: God’s Extravagant Promises****
\n<\/strong>My friend Diane explained how she had been at a stoplight when she saw a million birds fly over her car. I raised my eyebrows. “A million?” I asked, and she insisted that yes, she’d seen a million birds.<\/p>\n

“Do you know how many a million really is?” I replied. I was skeptical and amused. The idea that my friend had seen one million birds during the two minutes she idled at a stoplight tickled me, and I could not stop laughing. One million? Really?<\/em><\/p>\n

Imagine the incredulity of Abram (later known as Abraham) when God declared that he would have more offspring than there were stars in the sky. This disbelief was not because God is not amazing and generous or because God is not powerful, but because Abraham had exactly zero offspring at the time- and he was an old man. Yet, the Scriptures say that Abraham simply believed.<\/p>\n

How have you experienced the extravagant promises of God?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Read Genesis 15:1-8.<\/p>\n
