Women’s Weekend 2020

WE SALUTE THE LANGLEY AVENUE CHURCH OF GOD WOMEN’S MINISTRY!

Mission: The Langley Avenue Church of God Women’s Ministry is comprised of an inclusive faith-based group of women striving to address individual and group concerns by:
–Promoting Hospitality
–Building Relationships
–Encouraging one another
–Extending a giving and helping hand
–Allowing the beauty of Jesus to be evident through conversation and deed

God made women in his image for a special reason.  We are reminded by powerful women of the Bible such as: Mary, Rachel, Rebecca, Ruth, and more. These leaders, mothers, and faith-filled individuals were spiritual guides during their lifetimes and are still inspirations for  women today.*

Today, we have modern day leaders, mothers, and faith-filled women who are inspirational to Langley Church.  We want to remind each of these Godly women how much she can inspire and accomplish — especially with the power of her faith is behind her.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GODLY WOMAN*

1. She is a believer
Proverbs 31:30 (ESV) – “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Meditation:  What is your commitment to the Lord? Reflect on what truly matters in life.

2. She maintains her home
Proverbs 31:16-17 (ESV)  – “She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.
Meditation: If a woman sets her mind on something, she will get it done — no matter what. What is hindering you from your goals? Meditate on God’s faithfulness to you and how He can help you reach your goals?

3. She is discerning and wise
1 Corinthians 15:10 (ESV)  – But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.”
Meditation: Would God be pleased with your work? Do your actions honor Him?

4. She is temperate and trustworthy
1 Timothy 3:11 (ESV) – Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things.
Meditation: Women try to be faithful to all things in their lives: God, their children, their loved ones, their careers, and so much more. Is your faith in God secure?

5. She is virtuous and held in high esteem
Proverbs 11:16 (ESV) – A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches.
Meditation: The word of God tells us how to honor Him in this life so we will be rewarded in heaven, while those who act in anger will be punished. Are you on track to spend eternity with God? What does your desire or drive say about your life?

6. She adorns herself appropriately
Proverbs 31:25 (ESV) – Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
Meditation: With God wrapping us in love and strength, we have absolutely no reason to fear for the future or life after death. Where is your faith and trust in God? Have you truly surrendered all to Him? Do you trust and believe that He will protect you? Do you live your life as if you are sure of this?

7. She is known for her good deeds
Proverbs 3:15 (ESV) – She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Meditation:  Women are more valuable than some of the most precious items on earth. As precious jewels do you wear your beauty internally and externally? Is there something in your life that makes your beauty dull or tarnished?

Special Prayer
Precious Father, thank you for each and every God-fearing woman at Langley Avenue.  We know that being a woman is hard, especially so in different parts of the world. Thank you for supplying our needs and some of our wants.  Today, we pray for peace and strength. Sin has corrupted the earth. But we lift our voices to you. Remind each woman, reading this, that she is not inferior. We know that you have equipped us with the word of God and access to you through prayer.  We have comfort that these assurances will help those experiencing tribulations. Protect the beautiful woman that is reading this post and prayer. We pray that you will multiply her blessings and increase her faith in you. In her imperfectness, you have such a beautiful canvas for mastery. May she open her heart and let your work be done. Amen
