A Message From our Pastor, Rev. Cynthia Thomas: Happy Holidays!
We have come to the end of a very challenging year, BUT the light of Christ still shines amidst the darkness of this world. We find joy as we celebrate a new year, knowing that God is still in control and that he cares for each of us. All we have to do is pray, seek His face, and listen to His voice. He will show up on our behalf!
May we be a people of faith and joy that rejoices in the light and hope that a new year brings. This light truly does shine in a world full of darkness, and this light must penetrate our hearts. We are called to be the light of Jesus to the world, so that one person at a time, one soul at a time, we can start bringing that light to a world that so desperately needs it.
I pray that you and your family had a blessed Christmas and will have a grace filled, safe New Year. If you are in the Chicago area, please stop by and join us. We would love to meet you and pray with you, in person.

Announcements
New Year’s Eve Prayer Session, December 31, 2023 at 10:00 PM – 12:15 AM. Reverend Evelyn Tolliver will direct our time together as we bring in the New Year with prayer. Please use the Langley Prayer Line number (above) to join us.
All Church 40 Day Fast will begin on Monday, January 8th through Friday, February 16, 2024. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6. We will draw closer to God by communicating with him in prayer.
The National Inspirational Youth Convention (NIYC) was held this week in Houston, TX. You can view all services by clicking here.
Adult Sunday School Resumes every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. The Bible study leader will welcome you as you learn more about the Bible. Join members and visitors as they go into an in depth study each week.
Our weekly Wednesday Evening Bible Study is Cancelled until January 3, 2024. We will resume our lively discussions and rich lessons after the holidays. Enjoy this time with family.
Langley’s In-Person Worship Services
You are welcome to visit and worship with us in-person or virtually. Invite your friends and family. Masks are optional. If you are ill please be mindful of others and remain home.

Beginning September 25, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. Before You Throw Out “Expired” Tests: Check FDA’s website to see if your COVID-19 tests’ expiration dates have been extended. Spiritual Messages for 2024**
Spiritual messages can be a fabulous way to begin a new year. Here are some New Year’s Words of Encouragement to share with family and friends:
- With God as our leader, may we be prepared to live another year under His guidance. Happy New Year!
- May God’s presence never leave your heart. To each new chapter of your life, may the Lord grant you His grace and strength. Happy New Year!
- Do not be afraid to face life. This New Year has a lot of promises for us. Trust God, and everything will be fine. Happy New Year!
- God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile. Happy New Year.
- Praying that your year is full of everything your heart desires. Happy New Year.
