New Year Goals for Christians*
As Christians, let’s establish goals that focus on deepening our faith, such as daily prayer, Bible study, and church involvement, while also serving others through acts of kindness and strengthening relationships, all motivated by a desire to honor God and grow closer to Jesus. Key areas could include spiritual disciplines (prayer, scripture), serving the community (kindness, volunteering), and pursuing holiness (patience, forgiveness, love). Success comes from asking God for strength, not just making resolutions.

  • Daily Quiet Time: Dedicate time for prayer and listening to God.
  • Read the Bible: Commit to reading through the Bible in a year or studying a specific book deeply.
  • Memorize Scripture: Learn verses to apply to your daily life.
  • Pray for Others: Make praying for friends, family, or specific needs a regular habit.
  • Live with Eternity in Mind: Focus on heavenly values and God’s eternal perspective.

  • Strengthen Relationships: Invest time in family and friends through calls, walks, or coffee.
  • Serve Your Neighbor: Perform daily acts of kindness or find new volunteer opportunities.
  • Engage with Church: Get involved in a local church community for support and growth.

  • Pursue Holiness: Cultivate Christ-like virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, and patience.
  • Practice Gratitude: Be thankful daily and let the peace of Christ rule your heart.
  • Kill Sin: Actively put to death earthly desires like impurity or covetousness.
  • Be Wise & Just: Speak and act with wisdom, and give generously. 

Key to Success with Your Goals (Motivation)

  • Center on Christ: Base your goals on your relationship with Jesus, asking Him for strength.
  • Honor God: Ensure your motivation is to glorify God, not just self-improvement.
