Usher Day: Celebrating 50 Years In Ministry
Greetings from Anita A. Jackson, Usher Board President
It is an honor and my pleasure to serve in this ministry with the members of the Langley Ave Church of God Ushers. During this year 2020, we are blessed by God to be able to celebrate 50 years in ministry and service to others. Continue to pray for us as we will continue to pray for you as we serve the people of God.
Mission: The Ushers at Langley Avenue strive to serve God and his people as doorkeepers in the house of God. Ushers grasp the meaning of Christ’s words “He that is greater among you shall be your servant.” In all matters pertaining to the advancement of the Kingdom of God among men this ministry requires faithful responsibility and willingness for service to God and his people.

2020 Recognition
We recognize our oldest and youngest ushers. Mother Lillian Beed at 96 years old is the oldest usher and we love her steadfast faithfulness and support. Jaxson W. is 9 years old and he is a dedicated young man that is eager to serve and learn.
Langley Avenue Ushers celebrate 50 years by reflecting on the question…What inspires you to serve as an usher?
Observing Brother Hillman working with the Junior ushers God touched my heart and showed me that’s where I needed to be – Derrick Y.
I was inspired years ago as a child watching my great uncle usher. I’ve ushered off and on 60 years of my 76 years. –Linda F.
My Aunt Carrie was an usher and she encouraged me to usher during our youth hour services. That is the beginning of over 40 years of service to the Lord. I’m 71 years old. –George H.
Ushering is my passion. I was inspired as a child watching the senior ushers at my aunt’s church. I’ve ushered on and off 67 of 77 years. –Annie W.
What inspires me is knowing that I am serving the Lord and enjoying this ministry. –Monica S.
What inspires me to serve is the feeling of happiness that comes when helping others. Serving is a part of my calling. –Joshua Y.
I am inspired to Usher because I love to help the older saints when they have a need.–Aryn S.
I am inspired to Usher because I love to see the smiles on the people’s faces as I help them. –Anthony S.
Service Is Not Spelled Serve-Us
Prepare my heart for serving,
Let my spirit heed Your call;
In obedience to the Father,
Our Lord and King of all.
Fill my thoughts with You, Lord,
Review my mind today,,,
I give you full control,
In the things I do and say.
Take these hands You gave me,
And use them for your good…
To glorify Your Kingdom,
In the ways I know I should.
Remove all doubt within me,
Lord, I trust You’ll find a way,
To mold me in Your image…
As I walk with You today.
