Bible Study is Cancelled in August. Bible Study is canceled during the month of August. We will resume class in September. Take this time for personal study and reflection.

Free backpacks and school supplies. You are welcome to attend the 8th Annual Back to School Block Party for Peace. Date: Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the EGIF Achievement Center (500 E. 67th Street, Chicago, Il. 60637 – Rear Patio). School supplies will be distributed but you must pre-register. Please see the flyer (attached picture) for registration information.
Grocery tax relief. The Illinois 1% sales tax on groceries is suspended through June 30, 2023. When grocery shopping, make sure that you are not charged taxes.

The 005th District Office of Community Policing invites you to join them at the National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 4-8 PM. Location: West Pullman Park, 401 W. 123rd Street, Chicago, Illinois 60628. There will be food, music, a movie in the park, resource tables, bouncy houses, and the Jesse White Tumblers. Book Bag Giveaway. The Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be Honoring Hometown Heroes at this Book Bag Giveaway on Saturday, August 13th, from 9:00 AM until all bags have been distributed. Location: 4525 S. King Drive, Chicago, Illinois. Voter registration will also be available. Students must be accompanied by an adult with an appropriate form of identification. Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention. Please see the enclosed flyer for information provided by the Chicago Police Department regarding catalytic converter theft prevention.
Home and Business Protection Program. If you reside, operate a business, or own/lease a vehicle in the city of Chicago, you can get reimbursed:
- up to $225 per camera (cost of camera and tax only) for a maximum of 2 cameras, or a total $450 reimbursement
- one year of subscription costs for cloud-based video storage systems for a maximum of $150 per annual subscription
- up to $100 per light (cost of light and tax only) for a maximum of 2 lights, or a total $200 reimbursement
- up to $50 per vehicle GPS tracking device (cost device and tax only) for a maximum of 2 devices, or a total $100 reimbursement
- one year of subscription costs for GPS tracking applications as required for use by the vehicle GPS tracking device manufacturer up to $120.

Annual Back to School Festival. August 6, 2022 (11:30 AM-3:30 PM) at Tuley Park, 501 East 90th Place, Chicago, Illinois. School supplies will be distributed, games, food, and more! The National Inspirational Youth Convention (NIYC) will host the first in person convention in 2 years. The theme is: Who Are You? Identity (John 1:12). African Festival of the Arts – Chicago, September 2-5, 2022 (Labor Day Weekend). The Festival grounds in Chicago’s Washington Park will come alive in a simulated African village. Attendees will be transported across the Diaspora with interactive engagements, vibrant drumming, museum quality and collectible artifacts, colorful and rich handwoven fabric and textile, and other program spaces and Interactive spaces include: Drum & Afro-folk Village, Children and Family, African Heritage, African Spirituality, Wellness (Health) Village, Books and Authors, Fine Art, Film and Video, Food Court, Seniors and Quilting, and the African Marketplace.
