A Call to Prayer every Sunday morning for our local youth ministry and the leadership and direction of the National Inspirational Youth Convention (NIYC). View the Presiding Elder Clifton McDowell’s appeal to pray for NIYC as they plan for the next convention in 2025. Get involved and participate as we live out Psalms 78:4 and Joel 1.

It’s Pastor Appreciation Month! During the month of October we say a very special thank you to our Pastors and Ministers for all you do. Thank you for your prayers and for the impact you make in our lives. You are appreciated and loved! We will continue to pray for you as you minister to others.

Join the National Association of the Church of God in 24 Days of Prayer & Fasting. Presiding Elder Clifton McDowell is encouraging 24 days of prayer and fasting concerning the upcoming general and local elections. Let’s pray for:
- God’s will to be done
- The safety of the candidates and their families
- A peaceful transition of power
- Wisdom, integrity, and values to guide the elections
- The right person to be elected
- The safety of voters, poll workers and their families.
We encourage you to pray four times per day, October 13-November 5 at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm and fast from food or an activity as the Lord leads you. We also encourage you to vote. We are the change makers. We are those who can bring about God’s will on earth as it is in Heaven.
Free Covid Test
Americans can once again order free at-home COVID.gov/tests from the federal government ahead of the upcoming respiratory virus season. Four tests will be shipped free by USPS, starting September 30.

DO YOU HAVE A PLAN TO VOTE?
The City of Chicago’s United Center hosted the 2024 Democratic National Convention this past week, where Democrats’ chosen presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, made history the moment she formally accepted the nomination. Harris, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, became the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent to accept a major party’s presidential nomination. The 2024 Election will be pivotal for the democracy of our country for many reasons. What’s at stake are the following topics: The economy; The future of DEMOCRACY in the U.S; Government spending; Immigration; Border security; Health care (especially women’s rights to make decisions about their own bodies); Foreign policy; Crime; Issues around race and ethnicity; and Climate change. We encourage you to read the attached Guide to Informed Voting where you will learn what it means to be an informed voter; What is political rhetoric and how it is used; What is political symbolism; How to identify campaign ad strategies; What is issue framing; and What are PACs and Super PACs and how they impact elections. If you are 18yrs or older, please research each candidate and cast your informed vote! Every vote counts!!! Some elections are determined by one vote!
Important Election Information:
If you are unable to get to the polls, you may request a ballot by mail. Voting by mail is an option for voters to cast their ballot prior to Election Day. Voters can request a vote by mail ballot through the mail or in person. To request a ballot by mail please click here and select “Accessible vote by mail application.”
The first day to file an application for a vote by mail ballot with the Election Authority is 8/7/2024.
All requests by mail must be received by the Election Authority by 10/31/2024.
All in-person early voting requests must be made by 11/4/2024.

Save the Dates:
The Giving Group is collecting adult male and female winter garments. Garments will be donated to the United African Organization. Consider donating new and gently used, cleaned items and please bring them to the church on November 10th. Items to donate include boots, shoes, sweaters, coats, jackets, thermal wear, sweat shirts, pants hoodies, socks, hats, gloves and scarves. The National Association Women of the Church of God 2024 Convention will be held Thursday, October 24 – Sunday, October 27, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio at the Embassy Suites at the Hilton, Columbus Airport- 2886 Airport Dr, Columbus, OH 43219. The theme of this conference is Iron Sharpens Iron; You Are More Than Enough” taken from Proverbs 27:17. The $150 registration fee includes the banquet ticket. We will hear from powerful preachers such as Rev. Dr. Kimberly Majeski, Rev. Dr. Vanessa Quainoo, Rev. Dr. Leslie Barnes, and Rev. Marissa Farrow. NEW DATE! Let’s Celebrate our beloved Pastor Cynthia Thomas’s Twelfth Pastoral Anniversary on Sunday, November 3, 2024. You’re invited to a celebration breakfast starting promptly at 9:30 AM-10:30 AM. RSVP forms will be available today before and after church. Please complete and give your RSVP form to an usher. The worship service will be held on Sunday, November 3rd at 11:00 AM. The speaker will be Dr. Marcus Campbell, Evanston, IL. Come to worship and praise the Lord with us, as we give thanks for her leadership, prayers, wisdom and love.
