Dr. Marcus A. Campbell
Dr. Campbell attended Lindbloom High School in Chicago, where he graduated in the top ten of his class. He was blessed to travel and minister in song with gospel singers such as Tramaine Hawkins, James Cleveland, and Kirk Franklin, as he was a member to the Soul Children’s Chicago Choir from 1991-1999. He accepted a call to ministry in 1994 and received his preaching license in 1997. This license was presented to him by his father, Rev. Eugene Cherry from the Christian Youth Baptist Church. Also, in 1997 he was a Golden Apple Scholar.
At the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, he served on several Executive boards, but his primary position was Director of Faith Christian Peer Ministry, which was founded to teach the Word of God and to aid students in their relationship with God. Under his leadership at the Friday Night Gatherings, there were as many as one hundred students present. He graduated from there with a degree in English Education and African American Studies in 2002. He then accepted the position of teaching English and Humanities at Evanston Township High School. In that same year, he was installed as the Youth Pastor of the Embassy Church in Chicago. The Lord used him to transform teens into preachers and prophets.
In 2005, Pastor Campbell was installed as Senior Pastor of the Abundant Grace Assembly. As he developed and led the congregation, the Lord had him focused on the Word spoken to him in 2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”
In 2007, Dr. Marcus received a master’s degree in Social & Cultural Foundations from DePaul University in Chicago. He received a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership & Administration from National Louis University in 2016.
Dr. Campbell presently serves as adjunct professor at both Northwestern’s School of Education and National Louis University.
He is the Superintendent of Schools of Evanston Township High School, District 202, which has a campus covering sixty-four acres, a staff of 624, and a student population of 3500.
Rev. Dr. Marcus Campbell walks daily with integrity and humility and is a role model for men, whether young, middle aged or enjoying the senior time of life.
It is with gratitude and joy, that we welcome Dr. Campbell today.
