Reflection: The Gift of Righteousness****
I have an interesting benefit through my health insurance. If I keep my annual “well visit” appointment with my doctor, then two weeks later I receive $135 in my bank account. Since going to my appointment is simply part of the routine of my life, I feel like the money is credited to me as a gift, which I gratefully accept.
Today’s passage talks about God crediting Abraham with righteousness. Abraham did nothing but accept the gift by trusting the God who was offering it. And it is the same for all who choose to accept the gift of righteousness offered to everyone through faith in Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Because of Jesus Christ, we each have an opportunity for God to call us righteous.
Oh, the joy of knowing that God has said our sins will never be held against us! Thank him today for his indescribable gift.
How can you thank God today for the gift of righteousness? Read Romans 4:22-25
Stay prayerful and read the following daily:
2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”.
1 John 2:29 – “If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him”.
Acts 10:34-35 – “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him”.
1 Corinthians 15:34 -“Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame”.
