Celebrate International Women’s Day. This year, International Women’s Day (March 8) will be centered on the theme of #EmbraceEquity. March is also Women’s History Month in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and is a time to celebrate and recognize the amazing contributions of women throughout history. This month, we will learn about phenomenal women, past and present. We begin this monthlong celebration recognizing Dr. Sima Samar, Human Rights Activist, the first Minister of Women’s Affairs for Afghanistan, and a member of the UN Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement.*** In 2002, Dr. Sima Samar became the first Minister of Women’s Affairs for Afghanistan’s post-Taliban interim government.
